Ranting about life

Hi there. I apologise for the lack of updates these few days as the lazy me is too indolent to blog about anything.

The purpose of me blogging this is to rant about the life that I am leading here. My friend, Poy, is going overseas next year for university as an art student; she wants to be a fashion designer. In Singapore, you have to go through Polytechnic or JC before you can go to university - or even worst, you have to start from ITE. Because of this, I encourage my second sister to follow the route that Poy is going. She likes cooking so maybe she can become student at a culinary school in the states. All she has to do is to go take the American test, and if she does pass, she would be eligible to admit into a university in the states. I ask you, does she necessary have to go through Polytechnic just for a cooking course? I think it would be better to go straight to a culinary school. However, not ALL universities do accept the American test certificate. If you are aiming for the top universities, you need the O-level certificate. I like to cook too. How I wish I can go.

In my country, life is so fucking stress. I can die from studying, let alone working in the future. Most of the students have school from 8 AM to 3 PM. After school, we have remediation from 3 PM to 5 PM. And it just doesn't end there; some people even have idiotic tuitions at night. What about the adults then? They freaking work from 9 AM to 7 PM; some even have to work longer than that. Tell me, where has the word 'fun' go to from their dictionary? This makes me want to migrate even more! Life should not be like this. In New Zealand, they end work at 3 PM. Can you see the big difference?

Singapore is too competitive, hence it is too much for me to handle. I just wish that she could slow down a little bit more. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Dinner at Jim Thompson

Taken using iPhone 4

Last night, I had dinner at Jim Thompson with my family; it is located at Dempsey Hill. Basically this restaurant offers "definitive Thai cuisine in a Dempsey Hill heritage venue with a stunning interior designed to surpass any other Thai restaurant in the world." Enough said.

The food was excellent. The service was 5-stars. The ambience was great. The interior and exterior designs were exquisite and meticulous. The venue was perfect. The bill was $200 plus. Yes, everything was perfect maybe except for the bill. BUT, I was grumpy and grouchy throughout my duration there. Why was it so if you ask me? It is a first-class restaurant yet someone was behaving like a hooligan shouting and spewing vulgarities at his friend on his phone during our meal. How outrageous! Since you are in a high class restaurant, you ought to know how to behave. This is not some typical coffee shops where you can do whatever you like. Luckily we were seated way back behind where no one really sits there, if not I can't imagine how am I going to hold up my face to others after that scandalous behaviour you had just produced. I mean even our server has this appalled look! You totally lose my respect.

Those photos that were taken by iPhone 4 look so stunning. Look at its lightning and how sharp the details look. After seeing how beautiful these photos turn out using my sister's iPhone 4, I was tempted to upgrade my iPhone. Mine is such a disappointment as compared to her one. I think I'll just wait for iPhone 5 or 6 to come out since Apple always releases new iPhone annually on June. I have to say that I am a big fan of Apple's products. I do watch all the keynotes that Steve Jobs has - on YouTube or the Apple website. This man is clearly a genius. Not to mention, I might be getting a MacBook Pro next year! *Swoons* BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. Preliminary results

I am satisfied with the results I received albeit I didn't study for this round.

English - 57/100
Social Studies - 33/50
Math - Paper 1: 43/100, Paper 2: 23/80
DnT- 31/100 (I passed every of this paper last year... but stupid Wong didn't give us notes this year.)
Geography: I didn't take the paper.
Combined Science: I didn't give a damn = Failed (expected)
Chinese: I don't know.

P says that I can go to Polytechnic next year after seeing my results. I have assurance that I can pass my English, Combined Humanities, Chinese (I'm retaking albeit I passed), Math and DnT if I hit the books. But what weighs me down is that at the end of the day, I couldn't get 13 points.

Conclusion: ITE. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Life is a journey

“Life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.” - Oliver Goldsmith

Whenever I see someone goes on a trip and writes the experience on his/her blog, I feel that life should be leaded that way. The course that you choose to walk will determine where you will be going. But the paths that you walk on these remarkable countries are going to be special. You don’t know where you are going because you're unfamiliar with it which I find it thrilling. It's the surroundings that keep you going. You turn to your right and see something new to you or something common when you turn to your left. You learn and notice something new along the way. You learn their cultures, languages and lifestyle. You survey how they interact with each other or greet when they first met. You go to Africa and the people there change your life. You tell yourself that you're fortunate enough and should not take things for granted. In next to no time, you will appreciate all and sundry around you. Ultimately, you changed - in a good way. You go to Alaska and find yourself realising that the Earth we live on is actually a beautiful planet. The nature seems so surreal to you. The beauty of nature leaves you speechless and flabbergasted. From somewhere far away, you hear music - the sound of nature. This beautiful melody tranquillises you and brings your worriment to a trip. You feel appreciative that you were born to witness something so extraordinary. The world suddenly turns silent and you know what's coming - Peace.

And when you have finally come to an end, there is something inside your head that you won't be able to put out of your mind; something that has already been etched to your memory. You will leave the place with a blissful soul and a contented heart. You feel glad that you have taste what life is all about.

Talking about trips, I can't wait for the 26th of November to arrive. It is the day when I'll be flying on an airplane to Bangkok. We will in Thailand for three weeks. Trust my mum to not feel harried despite of the fact that I've been relentlessly badgering about the trip at her. However, before we get to shop in Bangkok, we have to go to the countryside to visit my relatives. I surmise we will be staying there for about a week. On the happier note, my father will not be joining us to the countryside for the reason that he doesn't like rural places. So he is going to Pattaya instead.

The first thing I will do when I am back in Bangkok is to go straighten and colour my hair at a local salon. But I am caught in a dilemma whether I should dye my hair dark brown or ash brown. Many mentioned to me that I don't suit black hair. And next would be the shopping! Shopping makes me happy. The vintage clothing, wedges, gladiator heels, bags and ……. I am getting a new personal luggage before the journey starts. I bet it’s going to be wild. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. What is the right choice?

I discussed about this with P before. I do not know if I have make the right decision about coming up to Secondary 5 for I know in the end, my efforts will come down to nothing (I don't get to go to a Polytechnic). Okay, maybe I might possibly get into one but I would without doubt not be able to get into a course I want. What is my real interest? Business. I like anything that is related to business. Enrolling into a business-related course needs 10 to 13 points. But the main headache here is that I would never ever be able to get that kind of points. I know myself. I know where I stand so don't come telling me that if I genuinely study for it, I can achieve it. Seriously, you are like telling me to go jump off a building. I am no Einstein. I don't get As for any of my subjects except for design and technology. That was last year's. I wouldn't even dare to bet that this year's would be the same. I have lost all my motivation. Sometimes things like this stuck me. I cannot help feeling really disheartened and depressed.

During some period of time, I was really into nursing. Since I have wipe out the thought of not being able to get into a business-related course, nursing is my next choice. To be frank, I never thought I would be interested in nursing. So this actually stimulated me to study. But there was a huge obstacle bugging me - Science. Since young, I have always abominated Science and would repeatedly get an F9. But nursing needs me to pass Science in order to admit into the course. During my Physics and Chemistry lessons, I actually paid attention to my teachers and even tried to attempt their homework in a serious manner. However I gradually came to be sick and tired of trying so hard seeing that I still did not get the results that I hoped for. What does this show to you? This shows that you won't succeed in doing something if you are not truly interested in it. I finally get it now. In a New York minute, I felt devastated. The only hope to get into a Polytechnic crashed.

But then again I thought, there is still another option for me - ITE. Albeit it is a longer route to get into a Polytechnic, I am all right with it because at least I can get into a course that I like. I believe that I will regret if I really took up the nursing course because it is just a substitute choice for me. Life is like that. Some people can easily go for the shorter route if they want while some have no choice but to go for the longer one.

Long Beach King Seafood Restaurant

The title says it all. I had my dinner there with my family today. Basically what we had for dinner were chilli crab, sweet and sour fish, big crispy prawns, fried rice (for my sisters) and raw oysters (for my father). The bill came as $400 plus. I was extremely bloated after the scrumptious dinner. I will end this post with pictures.

Tour around Marina Bay area

What P and I mostly did was walk, walk and more walking; my legs went completely wobbly.

We took the train to Marina Bay, walked to Marina Square and had our breakfast there. Due to our bloated bellies after our breakfast, we decided to take bus 133M to Marina Bay Sands but the bus never came. So we walked to the hotel instead... Man, it was magnificent (and ridiculously expensive)! However, the cost to the Skypark is merely $20; I have got to go up there one day. In addition, the architecture is splendid. Well done, Marina Bay Sands. As we wanted to go visit the Marina Barrage, we took the bus to the Esplanade. There, we literally had to walk all the way back to Raffles Place MRT station. It was a total hell; the merciless almighty orb shone directly at our bodies. Geez, I can't stand the sun. We stopped and toured the Fullerton Hotel before heading back to the subway. Again, we were back at the Marina Bay and we had to walk all the way down to a bus stop where a bus would come take us to Marina Barrage. So, instead of not sitting at the open field like many others did, we decided to take the weight off our feet at the green roof where a shelter was there to shield us from the bloody sun. After resting and fooling around for an hour, we decided to go back to Ang Mo Kio Hub and did lunch there.

We had Pepper lunch for our lunch. I had Beef Pepper Rice whereas P had Chicken Pepper rice. We patronised many shops after that. I fell in love with a dress and a bag at first sight. I think I am going to get them (and a sunglasses) tomorrow! P and I are going to get the same bag in grey and dark green respectively.

Albeit I was entirely depleted, I still love today.

P/S: I donated $0.20 to a poor lady.

Possibly pneumonia

It's currently 3:01 AM. Due to my breathing difficulty with chest pain (here it comes again, it happens almost every month or so, FML) I can't fell asleep. I had to literally sit straight up so the pain will be less torturing. This feeling sucks, a lot; the pain makes me want to die. I have to breathe in and out really loudly in order to survive.

I googled about this problem and I think I might be having Pneumonia because the symptoms are similar to what I am having now.

"Pneumonia is a general term that refers to an infection of the lungs, which can be caused by a variety of microorganisms, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites."

"Often pneumonia begins after an upper respiratory tract infection (an infection of the nose and throat). When this happens, symptoms of pneumonia begin after 2 or 3 days of a cold or sore throat."

Signs and Symptoms:
* fever
* chills
* cough
* unusually rapid breathing
* breathing with grunting or wheezing sounds
* labored breathing that makes a child's rib muscles retract (when muscles under the rib cage or between ribs draw inward with each breath)
* vomiting
* chest pain
* abdominal pain
* decreased activity
* loss of appetite (in older children) or poor feeding (in infants)
* in extreme cases, bluish or gray color of the lips and fingernails

I had a really bad sore throat before it got me into this.

New York City

What is it about New York that I am in fact being so enthralled by it? New York is a city that never sleeps and that is one point I like about that. Everything is so fast-paced plus you would never miss any excitement that is constantly coming to your way! New York has numerous of high and big buildings and I would like to say that their architecture is the most excellent that I have ever seen. Personally, I am kind of into the architecture thing because I love buildings. I have no idea why but I presume that perhaps it’s because of the fact that I am a design and technology student.

My ultimate dream is to live there. Of course Singapore is an amazing country but I feel that I don’t fit in here. You see, it is kind of a family city. I like a fast-paced lifestyle and I believe that New York is the right one for me. That is why I would always visit Marina Bay because it looks a bit like New York except that it has lesser and shorter buildings.

To be able to own an apartment in Manhattan is something I would like to achieve. I want to live in a tall building where I can look out of my window to admire the city skyscrapers. In order to migrate there, I need lots of money, money and money because NY is exorbitant! From now onwards, I have to make sure that the money in my bank has to increase every month so that my dream of migrating there will be closer...

Anyway, this is more or less of how my ideal apartment looks like.

I used Paint and took quite some time to do this! You may wonder what are those three boxes doing on top of the window... Actually they are paintings. What's that on the floor? It's a giant carpet! The walls are in red because I find it sexy. Ha ha!

By the way, at age 21, I am going there with J! Gosh, suddenly I feel like going to Changi Airport now...

I am a happy girl

New York baby!

Yesterday, I met up with J again. What we did talk about were discussing about setting up our blogshop, gossiping and stuff. It was pretty fun. She brought her laptop along and we watched some Scare Tactics' videos on YouTube. I just simply adore this show. Basically Scare Tactics is a set-up, hidden camera reality prank show that puts "victims" into terrifying situations. Horror themes are the best because it really scares the shit out of those "victims".

Anyway, something really funny happened when we were inside This Fashion. I was browsing along the clothes when J suddenly held up a T-shirt. Because of the way she held I only saw the back view of the shirt. Immediately I told her that it was plain. But she said, "look again!" She turned the shirt around and there I saw 'New York City' printed largely on the front of the shirt. Guess what? I totally went berserk! All the words that were coming out from my mouth was 'OMG, OMG, OMG!' So eventually we planned to buy the shirts together on another day because we did not have enough cash at that time.

By the way, don't you find it amusing? You see, it is an ordinary shirt but when I saw 'New York City', my impression of the 'plain' shirt changed to 'OMG, THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL SHIRT.'

Once I reached home, I donned on a honey and lemon juice mask which I made it by myself. It is a good old remedy for your face you can use at home. Just in case if any one of you wants to know the formula, I'll write down the steps here.

Firstly, you must have these ingredients and tools.
- Honey
- Lemons
- A small bowl
- A lid to cover the bowl
- Tablespoon
- Knife
- Cotton balls

Now let's start on how to make a honey and lemon juice mask.
Step 1: Clean your face with mild soap and make sure it is dry afterwards.
Step 2: Cut a lemon into half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl.
Step 3: Scoop one tablespoon of honey and use your clean index finger to apply it on your face.
Step 4: Dip a cotton ball into the lemon juice and dub it on your "honey" face.
*Precaution: Do not use the same cotton ball to re-soak because it is very unhygienic.
Step 5: Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. (In my case, I do leave it longer.)
Step 6: Wash it off with SOLELY warm water.

Do it every day and your face will become smoother and whiter each day. Lemons cure pimple scars and make your skin whiter whereas honey gives you a soft, smooth, glowing and healthy-looking skin. In addition, drinking lemon juice is also another great way for curing your skin. Doing both externally and internally is even better!

After using this method for the second time now, I swear that my pimple scars are going lighter than before! I was bowled over by such fast result that I received. I am a happy girl now! By the way, I promise myself never to use any acne products again. It just worsens my face and it never improves.

Oh another thing, remember to drink lots of water every day because it washes the toxin out of your body! Off to get some water now. :)

The Pretty Reckless

Nothing like lying on my sister's bed and using blogbooster (an app in my iPhone) to update my blog.

Anyway, a few minutes ago, I went into J's blog and saw her latest post on Gossip Girl. I just wanted to say that I am extremely infatuated with The Pretty Reckless and guess who is fronting the band? It's Taylor Momsen who is best known for her portrayer of Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl! I would never imagine her having such a voice despite her being just a teenager. I like listening to rock songs and her music is just the right one for me. I have got to say that this band has totally made me being obsessed with all their songs.

These are my favourites:
1) Make me wanna die
2) Zombie
3) Just tonight
4) Heart
5) Miss nothing

There is a cover of Love The Way You Lie + Islands by her too. It is absolutely astonishing! Oh by the way, their debut album has just released recently. They have a long way to go and I wish them all the best for their future albums! Glad to say that I'm their biggest fan!

I don't know whether should I... BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop
